Each year the Acting Area and the Devised Theatre students stage several Unmounted Performances in order to showcase their work in a variety of styles.
This Fall, the third year actors kick things off with a production of Tough by George F. Walker, directed by MFA Directing students Matjash Mrozewski, Jamie Robinson, Estelle Shook, and Autumn Smith. In the winter, the third year BFA students and the 1st year MFA actors will stage their "image projects," this year based upon the picture book My Brother's Book, by Where the Wild Things Are author Maurice Sendak. In the spring, the two acting classes will do their "language projects," with the BFAs doing Margaret Atwood's Penelopiad, and the MFAs doing Sophocles' Oedipus at Colonus.
At the end of the winter semester, all the Acting Area students, from second year BFAs to graduating MFA students, will perform in our mini Shakespeare Festival. This year's projects (and director) are HENRY 6 PART 1 directed by Jamie Robinson, MUCH ADO directed by Matjash Mrozewski, RICHARD III directed by Estelle Shook, and WINTER'S TALE directed by Autumn Smith.
The 3rd year Devised Theatre students are presenting their Unmounted Fall Productions on Tuesday, Nov. 5th at 7:30 p.m. in ACE 207 & 209. They are presenting two works that run concurrently, so the audience can choose between Show A then B, or vice versa. Each groups' work will be approximately 20 minutes in length, so the evening will last about an hour.
